Sutton Coldfield Group Practice is undergoing a transformation. Our aim is to significantly improve the service we provide to our patients, to become ‘best in class’ in the delivery of GP services and to be the provider of choice for Sutton Coldfield residents.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced part-time Governance Officer/CQC Leader to ensure that our systems and processes are maintained to meet our obligations to CQC and patients. You will be an experienced governance/risk professional with experience working within a CQC regulated environment. You will work closely with our Lead Clinicians to ensure our systems and processes are CQC-ready every day.

Duties and purpose
The purpose of the Governance Lead is to lead, develop and execute the strategic plan to ensure CQC’s readiness for the SCGP. Key duties and responsibilities include:

CQC preparation

  • Work with managers/team leaders to develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program including policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure CQC compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess CQC readiness and work with managers/team leaders to identify key controls, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of CQC compliance activities with TeamNet
  • Lead inspection preparations and ensure that operational staff across the group receive a complete overview with up-to-date pre-inspection materials accessible.

Project and professional management

  • Project Management CQC Projects and Initiatives. Involves clinical and administrative staff across multiple clinics as needed.
  • Ensure efforts are supported by clinical champions and practice managers as appropriate
  • Stay up to date with NHS England changes specific to primary care, including changes to CQC audit legislation and tools and technology to improve compliance across practices within the PCN/Group.

communication

  • Prepares and presents reports to managers, GP partners and other practice staff as requested.
  • Promote a culture of ethics and integrity across SCGP and ensure staff are aware of their compliance obligations.
  • Deliver complex information in an engaging format

Educational training and experience required

  • Experience working with clinicians and enrollment managers.
  • Previous experience in a health and social care setting.
  • Experience in a risk, governance, or audit role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CQC’s regulatory framework and policies.

About compensation
We offer great working conditions, NHS pensions and a great working culture. This post is part-time 3 days a week and can also be offered on a hybrid basis.

The salary for the Head of Governance/CQC Leader role is £30,000 per year on a pro rata part-time basis.
