The leading private hospital where the Princess of Wales was treated before she was diagnosed with cancer was investigated this week over an alleged royal data breach.

Kate, 42, announced in a video message to the nation on Friday that she was undergoing treatment for cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery at a London clinic on January 16 this year.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mirror reported that at least one employee at the clinic had viewed her medical records without permission.

An investigation has been launched into the hospital, which has a long history of treating royalty, actors and politicians.

London Clinic CEO Al Russell said: “All appropriate investigative, regulatory and disciplinary actions will be taken.”

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s privacy and data watchdog, said: “We can confirm that we have received the breach report and are assessing the information provided.”

Kensington Palace declined to comment on the incident.

The king, who is undergoing treatment for a type of cancer, also underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate at the center this year.

The London Clinic was officially opened in 1932 by the then Duke and Duchess of York.

It was the brainchild of a group of Harley Street doctors who drew up plans for a new nursing home using the highest medical standards of the time.

The King, then Prince of Wales, opened a physiotherapy department in 1989, and Princess Margaret launched an MRI department in 1991.

The late Queen announced a new cancer category in 2010.

Past patients include the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Margaret, sister of the late Queen, and former US president John F. Kennedy.

Actress Elizabeth Taylor was also treated at the clinic after falling on a film set in the 1960s.

According to its website, the hospital was “founded on the principle of providing excellent medical care in one location.”

The facility said hundreds of treatments, tests and scans are available to treat 154 conditions, including multiple types of cancer.

It also operated as a charity, reinvesting in research, education and innovation.

Since the 1980s, many facilities at this location have been officially launched by members of the royal family.

The London Clinic was rated ‘Good’ overall in its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in November 2021.

The hospital sees about 23,000 inpatients a year and an additional 110,000 outpatients, according to the health watchdog.

The building at 20 Devonshire Place has seven main operating rooms and three additional operating rooms, as well as six specialty wards for urology, gynecology, thoracic surgery, orthopedics and spine surgery procedures. .
