An invitation to highlight rural inequality

CQC is calling on pharmacy businesses and others to submit examples of best practice to reduce health inequalities.

To inform a new framework to support integrated health systems (ICS) to reduce health inequalities, the UK regulator is calling for examples of:

• What good or innovative work have you done to involve people and communities within the system?
• Does engaging people and communities in integrated systems of care lead to reduced health disparities?

Project updates and opportunities to get involved will also be published through Citizen Lab.

The framework is being developed in partnership with National Voices and the Point of Care Foundation to:

• Identify innovative and creative ways to measure the extent to which ICS understands and responds to the health and care needs of populations who are less experienced in care and more likely to face inequalities.

• Co-design and test a framework for measuring the impact of approaches to addressing inequality
• Develop, test and drive a range of relevant guidance, learning products and activities.

The CQC’s State of Care report shows that inequalities in access, experience and outcomes of health and social care are fundamental issues, particularly in remote areas.

CQC says the ICS lacks a consistent approach to measuring the impact of people and community engagement on reducing health inequalities and that the system needs our support to meet health inequalities targets. states.

CQC received a grant of £635,394 from the regulator’s Pioneer Fund to carry out this work.
