Outstanding CQC report for Budleigh’s Ashbury Dental Care

An inspection of Ashbury Dental Care in Budley Salterton found the practice to be “safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs and well led”.

The Care Quality Commission carried out an inspection in February and has recently published its report.

The private practice, on East Budley Road, was previously run by Dr Maurice Sims and was taken over by Today’s Dental Practice in May 2023.

CQC’s findings are as follows:

• The dental office seemed clean and well maintained.

• The clinic had infection control procedures that reflected published guidance.

• Staff knew how to deal with medical emergencies. Adequate medicines and life-saving equipment were available.

• The clinic had systems in place to manage risks for patients, staff, equipment, and facilities.

• Safeguarding processes were in place and staff were aware of their responsibility to protect vulnerable adults and children.

• The clinic had staff recruitment procedures that reflected current legislation.

• Clinical staff provided patient care and treatment in accordance with current guidelines.

Inspectors said there was “effective leadership and a culture of improvement” and that “staff felt included and worked as a team”.
