The Care Quality Commission (CQC) said Ormskirk Hospital’s maternity services were rated ‘good’ in a recent inspection.
CQC representatives visited Ormskirk Hospital in December 2023 as part of the National Maternity Services Inspection, providing an update on the quality of maternity care across the country.
The CQC informed the trust that the service had received a ‘good’ rating, specifically for its effectiveness in ‘managing priorities and issues facing the service, being visible and approachable, and supporting staff skills development’. leadership team.
CQC found two areas of “outstanding” practice, with particular praise for the unit’s work with the Maternity and Newborn Voices Partnership Group, which listened to 100 families and contributed to providing valuable feedback on services. It was also praised for its focus on keeping noise at an appropriate level for the benefit of the mother and her newborn baby.
In the report, inspectors praised staff for their continued commitment to improving services and putting patients first, stating: “The staff focused on the needs of the women in their care and promoted a culture of dignity and respect that put people’s care at the heart of the service.”
Staff also continually work to reduce health disparities by continuing to support carer teams for women in deprived areas, and by providing open and open spaces where women and partners can voice their concerns and know they will be heard. It had a culture.
