A man has been charged with robbery after a violent attack at a Mansfield store.
Police were called at around 11:50 a.m. on Monday, March 18, after three masked men attempted to remove clothing from a store on White Hart Street.
The suspects were confronted by store staff and left empty-handed.
Police later recovered the stolen van used in the attack and arrested several suspects.
Alex Lamb, 38, was charged with robbery. Mr Lamb, of Longstone Way, Mansfield, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was released on conditional bail. He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on April 19.
Two others were charged with theft elsewhere, and one of them was recalled to prison.
A fourth suspect has been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Constable David Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a frightening and upsetting experience for the victims and we have been working hard since Monday to identify those responsible and understand the situation.
“Thanks to some excellent detective work, we have now been able to identify several suspects and charge one of them with robbery. Our investigation continues. Continue.”
